Christ the Messiah

Prophecies to prove Jesus is our Saviour and who He was.

Review:  Last lesson, we studied that God is love and His love allowed for freedom of choice.

INTRODUCTION: In this lesson we will learn how God reveals that love through His Son and who His Son really is. Let's start with prophecy's that relate to how we even know Jesus Christ is the Messiah.

CM-1      A messenger will prepare the way for the Messiah. Malachi 3:1. Fulfilled

CM-2      His birthplace would be in Bethlehem. Mic 5:2. Fullfilled Lk 2:1-7

CM-3      Betrayed by a friend and suffer wounds in His hands. Zech 13:6. Fullfilled Matt 26:47-50 & Lk 23:33, Jn 20:20

CM-4      Betrayed for 30 pieces of silver. Zech 11:12. Fullfilled Matt 27:3-9

CM-5      Will enter Jerusalem as a king riding on a donkey. Zech 9:9. Fullfilled Matt 21:5

CM-6     Betrayal money used to purchase a potter's field. Zech 11:13. Fullfilled Matt 27:3-9

CM-7      The Messiah will remain silent while He is afflicted. Is 53:7. Fullfilled Jn 1:29; Acts 8:32-35

CM-8      Die by having His hands and feet pierced (not stoned as was the tradition for the Isrealite nation or the many other deaths common in David's day crustification was NOT heard of at this time.) Ps 22:16. Fullfilled Lk 23:33, 24:39

CM-9      The FIRST 8 of these create a probablity of 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000 people fulfilling ALL 8 of these - see here for details. BUT there were many, many more. Here are just a few. He would be from the tribe of Judah. Gen 49:8-10. Fullfilled Lk 1:30-32

CM-10     It would be a Virgin birth. Is 7:14. Fullfilled Matt 1:23

CM-11     Garments parted, casting lots for His cloak. Ps 22:18. Fulfilled Matt 27:35

CM-12     So now we have estabilished the validity of Jesus as Messiah, who exactly was he? Immanuel. Matt 1:23

CM-13     Word was God, Word made flesh. Jn 1:1, 14

CM-14     Exsisted with the Father before the foundation of this world. Jn 17:5, 24

CM-15     Was the self-existant one. Jn 8:58

CM-16     I Am was the name of God. Ex 3:14

CM-17     Jesus forgave sins. only God can do that. Lk 5:20-24

CM-18     The Father calls Jesus God. Heb 1:5-9

CM-19     Jesus is everlasting. Is 9:6, Mic 5:2

CM-20     First and last with keys to the grave. Rev 1:18

CM-21     Jesus is immortal. 1 Tim 6:15, 16

CM-22     Jesus voluntarily gives up part of His divinity (omni-presence) to become our Saviour in human form. Phil 2:5-12

CM-23     Was tempted in all points like us. Philippians 2:5-7.

 

Jesus was the Messiah. And the Messiah came to redeem us because He loves us so much. We will look into more about Jesus throughout this Bible Study.
